In October 2022, Aishwarya Rajinikanth was rumored to be directing a film starring Atharvaa in the lead role and Rajinikanth in a special role. However, in November, Aishwarya, via social media, announced her next directorial venture titled Laal Salaam, starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant in lead roles as cricketers and Rajinikanth in a special role.

Principal photography began on 7 March 2023 in Chennai, while the muhurat puja was held in December 2022. The first schedule in Chennai was completed in April.
